That being said, yes the Inn sucked and really frustrated me. However I came over to my mother's house today and looked at her computer which was FILLED with wedding places all around Cape Cod and the ocean. Gotta love that. Although I think she might have 'selected' a pastor for me >.> Erm...I still don't know what I'm going to do about that. I think I'll go to Salem MA and look around hahaha find some crazy escentric wiccan preistess to do it. XD
Anyway, lots of things I want to say today. So here are some of the places I liked that mom had found: http://www.orleansinn.com/default.aspx Love this place. It looks beautiful! And PERFECT! I love that windmill looking thing in the background too XD
http://www.capecodderresort.com/index.php I -love- this place, but I don't think they have a ceramony site over-looking the water. But I love LOVE their JFK Ballroom. It's BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I've been looking for. Stone walls with fountains, fake sky lights that have little lights inthem to make it look like a stary night sky....it's EXACTLY what I was looking for. And besides that the place is freakin cool, and they have childrens programs so the family can still bring their kids they just won't have any part in the wedding but they'll still have a place to stay. That's a HUGE load off my shoulders.
EDIT: I just got a call back from one of the above mentioned places. http://www.orleansinn.com/default.aspx The guy was super nice he said "Tiffany right? You know, I -lovvvvveee- weddings!" XD The place sounds great and he said the pictures don't do it justice. He must have said the word Beautiful about a million times. So we'll go look at this place soon, maybe this weekend. It's about 2 hours from my parents house so not too terrible. It would be about an 1 or so for my family so not bad at all. It looks amazing I can't wait to come and see it! END EDIT.
So yes, centerpeices!! So we've decided to keep the flowers as few as possible, I don't really want flowers on every god damn table anyway so psh. So at first we were looking at vases with sand and shells in them blah blah blah...it'd be expensive though. about $70-80 a peice. Uhg. I might have like, a few BIG vaces with sand and candles in them like on the card table dealie and with the guest book and things like that. As like, accents. But on each table I found the PERFECT thing!!
TADA!! What do you think? I just LOVE it. It's PERFECT!! Exactly what I was looking for. They come from http://www.thecandlepit.com there's also a red "poperie" one and an orange fall leaves one. They're very pretty. And they have a ton of different candle color choices too. I was so happy when I found this and...the best part, "Centerpiece set includes: (1) 10 inche cylinder, (1) 8 inche cylinder, (1) 6 inche cylinder,
(3) hanging votive holders, (3) votives and (1) Bag of shells, Potpourri or Autumn
Price $ 29.99 each"
WHAT!! Only $30! PSH!! Let's see...that would be a grand total of...$300-350. That's not bad at all. Since flowers would be A LOT more expensive I'd think. I think it'll be a very nice, pretty, different alternative.
Don't you hate it when you go somewhere and it's not what you thought it was? Well it happened to me today. As I said in my last post (well two posts down but whatever.) we drove up to Maine to visit The York Harbor Inn . Well...what a disapointment. First off the staff was -very- rude so that put me in a bad mood FAST. Then, we couldn't look at the main ballroom because there was a meeting there. AND the main wedding cordinator person wasn't in even though I was TOLD he would be. The woman who did help us talked -really- -really- fast and was just all over the place. She showed us some pictures and DIDN'T give us a tour even though she knew we had never been there before, infact Sean had never even been to the town before. It also took us forever to find. We got lost about a billion times. Anyway, where we want the ceramony to take place is across the street, and might I add, $1900. It's a park over looking the ocean. While it's pretty it has a few lets say...problems. -It's very small. -It's very hilly. -It's a PUBLIC PARK the woman told us if there are people in the park they'll ask them to move a little bit but they can't ask them to leave the park. Random people staring at me and my family while I'm getting married? Uh...how about that. -There are very skinny trees popped up randomly all over the place. -There are horrificly ugly bushes along the edge of the park and these stupid stone benches that are all "In love memory of my dear grandmother" Dude, I'm sorry, while that's great and all, and I"m sure she was a great person, didn't know her -really- don't want her in my wedding. :P And they're all slanted and falling apart.
And the WORST part of it all, you can only put TEN chairs in the park!!! TEN!! I have about 150 guests!!! O.O Most of my family is getting rather old, and I really don't want that many people standing in the sun while I get married. Good Greif. I don't even think there's enough ROOM for 150 people!! UHG!
So she was telling me in Maine you can get married pretty much anywhere you want. So say, if we wanted to get married on the beach, we could do that. Which I did consider. But...there's only a beach when the tide is out so that means the sand is always wet and we'd have to be at the ocean's mercy which makes me nervous.
And don't get me wrong, the place was very very pretty but...I don't know. It just it was WAY smaller than it seems in the pictures. It's RIGHT on the street and really very small. EEEK. It's very different in person. Not to mention about 20 semis tried to eat us on the highway. Uhg.
It was all just very very disapointing. And after all of that I didn't even want to get married anymore. I was really hoping Sean and I could go to the beach but he just wanted to leave. He hated the town. Oh well, whatever.
And you know, it's sad but...it's true, I am a Bridezilla. Because I know, if the DJ doesn't play the songs I want to I WILL rip him a new one. I know if my dress isn't ready and fit perfectly, that talor WILL get a shoe through her skull. Because I know if the teeny-Tinyest bit of frosting is smunged on the cake, the baker WILL get his hand stuck in the mixing bowl.
It's not pretty, but it's true. I'm a sweetheart, just don't get me mad. :P It's sad that I can relate to that show, although some of them DDDDOOOO go a bit out of hand.
So I mentioned to Sean about the polka dots on the dress I found yesterday. He -flipped-. Now he's never really cared what I wore for my dress, as he knows I would pick out the dress I truely wanted and would look beautiful. I was really shocked at how strongly he felt about me not wearing a polka dotted wedding dress. And we ended up agreeing that a polka dotted dress such as the one I posted below, would look fine at a prom or some other formal event and that I'd look brilliant in it, it's just not ment for a wedding. And in particular not the wedding we're planning on having. I'm having a pretty traditional, very formal wedding. And that dress is way to fun to be at something that formal :P If it wasn't so expensive, as I'm sure it is, I'd buy it :P But if I -do- find it and try it on...I don't know man. If it's the one, then it's the one. Right?
I do love that second one though. I had a dream lastnight that we got married and that's the dress I was wearing so...it must be love.
And I really do look beautiful in that other dress. I just havn't seen it in a while and it's hard when I can't find that dress in the color I would get. It's very fustrating. And I HATE it when bridal shops won't let you take pictures!!!
So tomorrow we're going to go and check out the venue we like and HOPE TO GOD that we like it. If we don't, I don't know where the crap we're going to have this wedding. I really don't. Perhaps at the other place I had selected although that's still so far away. I just don't know. There are a few places MUCH closer to my family that could work such as The Granite Rose which is quite nice. You could call that the back up of all back ups.
Now we did pick out the cake :D Would you like to see which one we FINALY ended up selecting? Oh I know you would. :P
:D I showed the MIL yesterday, she liked it a lot. She thought it was so cool. She also really liked my dress. She's such a tomboy but it's cute when she shows interest in the wedding.
We'll see how we like the York Harbor Inn. I hope we like it.
I had tried on the dress in my last post. And I loved it. Although I havn't seen it it quite some time. And I was a little un-sure. And then...I found a dress...this dress...and I feel like, it changed everything.
Now, I have an obbsesion...POLK DOTS!!! OMG! I couldn't beileve it when I saw this dress!!! It's just...it's so beautiful. In every way does it scream my name!! I don't know who on earth has it. But I want to find it and try it on. Although I'd just buy it without even seeing it, I know I need to try it on to know.
The dress is named "Rasharna". The other one is named "Britana".
I'm gonna have to think about this...
Here's a picture of the other dress I like in a lighter color than the last picture I posted.
I just don't know...I really think I like the first picture in this post better...
